"Poorly painted- don't waste your $"
I spent over 10K to renovate my kitchen cabinets via American Woodmark cabinets. Lowes told me that the quality was just as good as Kraftmaid but the price was right due to a sale. I am extremely disappointed. They came poorly painted and manufactured with cracks on the doors. The rep came out with Lowes was not rude. They ended up having to replace 5 doors and 4 drawers. I would not waste your money on these cabinets.

"Just a few complaints"
They are nice looking except that the bottoms of the wall cabinets are not finished, so you have to go buy paint the is close to the same color to get a truly finished look. They seem well made although my contractor had to remove and adjust all three drawer fronts. I expect that doors might have to be adjusted after installation, but the drawer fronts should be delivered level. Delivery (not the fault of American Woodmark, but of the company to whom they sub the delivery) was cumbersome. They don't deliver on Mondays. They can only give you a four hour time frame late the day before, so don't plan anything for the delivery day. They won't send smaller replacement parts to the store from which they were ordered so you have to set aside another whole day. There is a grooved panel to cover the back the island cabinets which is sold in 96" length for $412 and in 48" lengths for $191. Now comes the GOOD part! The 96" piece is shipped cut in half into two 48" pieces! Why wouldn't it be priced as two 48" pieces? Granted, its only a $30 difference, but its the principle of the thing. And the three pieces (a 96" and a 48") I ordered were all different colors so obviously the 96" piece isn't really cut in half for shipment. Hopefully the replacement pieces will match.

"Poor quality"
I payed over $5,000 for a bathroom vanity with two towers on each side... I can't believe how awful the quality is. They're white, but I can see the brown of the wood through the paint. The drawer parts have uneven gaps. I worry that they won't last. I’m so very sorry I went with Woodmark.

"Customer service is horrendous"
I ordered 10 cabinets through HD for our daughter's kitchen remodel back in May and they called with the dates of when the cabinets would be delivered and gave us a 10 day window. Then on a Monday they called and said they would be delivered on that Wednesday and they would call with a time the previous day. NO calls to us and there answering service never returned any of our 10+ voicemails. The names that were given to us didn't even exist in their automated system. Finally got thru this morning and was told it will be between 11-3 today, they said they left a message and myself, wife or daughter never got a call or message. I just hope the cabinets are not damaged since I have not even seen them yet..

"Poorly made Cabinets."
We ordered cabinets from American Woodmark through Home Depot. From date of original order it took 7 weeks to get cabinets. When cabinets were delivered 8 our of 26 cabinets had damage and not from the carrier, just poor workmanship and attention to detail. The 8 cabinets were reordered and it took over 2 weeks to get them. When they arrived, 2 were damaged. Again poor workmanship. The 2 damaged are on reorder now and we are told it will take 10 days to remake and ship again. We are having our entire kitchen remodeled. Had the cabinets been made and inspected correctly our kitchen would have been completed. We are at a point where nothing can be done, i.e., countertops, plumbing, electrical, etc., until the cabinets are installed. American Woodmark has the lousiest/poorest Customer Service that we have ever encountered. All we get are apologies and excuses from them. Their cabinet workmanship is poor and Customer Service is non-existent. They could care less about their customers. We paid well over 7K for our cabinets. Home Depot is doing every thing they can to help us. We do not blame Home Depot.

"Poor workmanship and poor customer service"
This is my second bad review because additional issues surfaced after the first bad review. The factory personnel drilled holes in the back of my utility cabinet that were not necessary, and not even straight. The bigger issue is that the cabinet doors do not close properly. The hinges do not have enough play in them to widen the gap between the doors so on two of my cabinets the doors overlap and one side cannot close. I called them to fix it but they can't. This is nuts.

"Love"
I'm very glad that I didn't listen to all the negative comments on this thread about American Woodmark Cabinets. We ordered ours from Home Depot in Vacaville CA and it went off without a hitch. When we got them we were in awe of how beautiful and durable they were. We installed no problem except a couple cracks in 2 drawers. We called them and the Customer service is the best I've seen anywhere! They send new ones out no questions asked. Even if you were to have any problems the Customer Service takes care of everything. We had all plywood construction with maple doors painted in silk, we love them and they are withstanding 5 kids,They wipe so easily and look and feel like super high end. I 100% recommend them

"I wish I had looked at this site before ordering"
On the day my cabinets were to be delivered to Home Depot, I received word from Home Depot saying that American Woodmark put the order on hold till further notification. This did not happen as a result of Home Depot contacting them; it was due to an incompetent employee at AW. Since my existing cabinets, countertop, sink, etc had already been dismantled, this left me with no usable kitchen for another month till they could get them made. When I complained about this huge inconvenience, AW offered me an upgrade to pull-outs within the cabinets. If anyone had actually taken the time to look closely at my order they would have seen that this would not have worked for my order. I refused the upgrade and they offered me compensation of $50. What an insult! After reading reviews on this site, I really wish I had looked here before ordering them. I'm now really worried about the workmanship of the cabinets after they are installed. I strongly suggest you steer clear of this company. You may have to spend a bit more but in the long run it would probably be worth it.

"Kitchen Cabinet Doors"
Kitchen Cabinet doors have significant gaps on the 45 degree angles of the stiles and rails. This is apparent on 19 out of 19 doors, one of which has a scratch in the lower right side of the door face rail. Am. Rep. said they would not do anything about the doors. Do not go with American Woodmark unless you want to get poor workmanship.

"Disappointing"
We ordered these from Home Depot and paid quite a bit extra for the optional solid wood construction. Unfortunately the sliding interior drawers are not solid wood. From experience we know these are most likely to warp. Also the bottoms of the white cabinets were not white they were coated in some sort of paint resistant plastic so I have fake wood plastic visible on the bottoms of my wall cabinets and the actual wood edges were bare! Those I could paint. Another problem which they did address well was the fact that many of my cabinet doors had what looked like patches of grit under the paint so they weren't smooth. They did replace those but it occurred on over a third of the doors.

"This company is amazing!"
Our cabinets are 15 years old and the style/color no longer sold. Our boys were horsing around and one kicked a cabinet door really hard, breaking it. Home Depot no help of course. We contacted American Woodmark directly; they had some stock left over somewhere, and sent us two doors and hinges at no charge!

"Keep in mind you get what you pay for"
Well, I'm on a tight budget so I understood clearly I was getting a budget cabinet but wow it's almost laughable. Being so detail oriented I went into opening these knowing they wouldn't be perfect, that's fine for the price. But I'm pretty sure the people assembling these are blind. First thing that boggles my mind, it appears they stain the wood in large sheets then rip it to size for the cabinets, with this you can expect the rear edges of your cabinets to be very ruff/flakey from the saw blade which will show since now the finish is all chipped up. Not an issue on cabinets being butted together but when you get to the exposed end it's not going to look so hot. That's my biggest gripe really, every dingle cabinet no matter what will have damage by design. I also had very misaligned doors, rubber bumpers of doors hanging part way off, obvious damage during assembly, one chip they attempted to hit with a touch up pen. Looks worse than the chip would have. Another they couldn't get the dovetail in so they just globbed hot glue on and the cabinet is not square as a result. Lots of chips and scrapes about. I still haven't we reached out to them for replacements so we'll see how that goes, minimum 6 of my 11 cabinets have serious issues and more have issues but I can hide it during install. I'd i hadn't walked into Home Depot and asked for the cheapest cabinet plus gotten Black Friday pricing I'd be pissed. But I understand you get what you pay for so I was expecting issues but nothing to this extent. Obvious they pump these out so cheap they don't care about eating replacement parts. Way overpriced imo. If your budget can handle a quality cabinet and you plan to stay in that home I'd say the extra cost is money well spent. Think hard about your expectations before buying American Woodmark and be honest with yourself.

"Horrible"
The cabinets were delivered damaged and some destroyed. We had it all set up to have the kitchen installed before we moved in. Now we need a new kitchen rebuild in this will put us behind at least 5 weeks. That's 5 weeks of no appliances that's 5 weeks of ordering out at 5 weeks of not being able to cook that's five more weeks of an incomplete home. When we asked them to help us and compensate us for something while we reordered the kitchen and had to suffer another month because of their employees negligence they said they would not do anything until after the project was complete. this is absolutely ridiculous and I'm not going to spend just under $10,000 so this incompetent company can turn around and say oh we're sorry here's $100 gift card. Severely disappointed and would never recommend them to anybody.

"Stay away"
Stay away from Home Depot and Woodmark. 14 Cabinets out of an order of 19 cabinets were damaged. Only 3 were damaged from shipping. The rest were extremely, extremely poor workmanship. No, lie it looked like they were built by a bunch of mentally challenged individual and I regret saying that because it's an insult to mentally challenged people. Cabinets were delivered on 12/20/17. I took the following 10 days off, so I could install them. Now not only can I not install them, we were left without a kitchen during Christmas and New years. Also, I lost all this time off and would need to take more time off when they get replaced in order to complete this. We contacted Home Depot and Woodmark. They tell us because of how bad they messed up, there is no way they can expedite them and it will be 3 to 5 weeks for replacements but they have to have rep come out and look at the cabinets first. Then they assigned it to a rep that was on vacation. so several days go by, we have to contact them again. Mind you I do not have a kitchen as it was torn down in preparation for the new cabinets. Finally they re-assign to someone else. And this person states they are going to send replacement parts and I would be responsible for taking the damaged cabinets apart and then putting them back together with the new parts. Completely ridiculous. I have asked on multiple occasions what Home Depot and Woodmark are going to do to make it right. As my family of five have had no kitchen and it has cost us even more money and aggravation because of their incompetence. I asked for them to send someone out and install them as I shouldn't be made to lose time off that I had dedicated for Family events, in order to install these because of their mess up. WoodMark has ignored all my requests for making the situation right for the customer. They just say "Sorry for the inconvenience". very insulting. Home Depot refuses to discuss any compensation until the new cabinets are in and installed and the project is done. So in other words, they want to guarantee that they dont have to send someone out to install them and even if they dont satisfy me, I will be stuck with the cabinets because once they are all installed, I would then need to uninstall them to return them. Real nice. So not only did they create a huge issue for me. Inconvenience me, Cause monetary, emotional stress and a huge inconvenience, now Home Depot is basically doing everything on their terms and they dont care that a customer is left hanging on, without a kitchen and with no path to any resolution. They just want to make sure they cover their own behinds by making sure I have very little recourse if they dont do what is needed to make this right. Home Depot is being very insulting, inconsiderate and self serving. All they care about is their bottom line and minimizing their liability, rather than trying to make it right for the customer. Very poor indeed. Lowes has my business from now on.

"Much disappointment"
We ordered the Newport Honey Oak Raised Panel kitchen cabinets. The backs of the cabinets are made of a thin approx. 1/8" thick laminated panel. The planking they provide to cover the bottom of the over-sink cabinet was made of particle board, although the cabinets we ordered were plywood, with solid oak finish. The planking for the support column was also made of particle board, which I did not agree to. I don't want particle board anywhere in my kitchen. I needed to stain some additional trim pieces, but they couldn't tell me the brand/model number of the stain used for my cabinets, nor would they sell me any. They said I needed to contact Home Depot and that it could take 2 weeks to deliver stain. Not very accommodating.

"Homeowner tired of dealing with AW."
We bought a new kitchen, maybe 15 cabinets, 2 years ago. They are white with laminate drawers and doors. They look(ed) great. About a year ago the surface of one of the doors delaminated. I called them, they were nice and immediately replaced the door. Since then 3 other doors delaminated. They replaced them. A few weeks ago one more door (you guessed it). Also a draw stopped self-closing. They replaced them, but had to get special approval. This morning I noticed another door surface loose, so checked them all. 5 more need replacing. Obviously the whole batch was poorly made at the time I ordered. I'm nervous to walk into my own kitchen. I am going to ask for solid wood doors as replacement. I'll let you know.

"Very Happy with our Cabinets"
We ordered our cabinets through the local Home Depot, worked with an excellent designer. Their installation costs were very high, not so much for the actual cabinets, but for items such as clean-up, plumbing, appliance hook-up and electrical. Example was $405 to haul away the trash which in our case amounted to 9 cardboard boxes. (We took it to recycle for FREE!) Install Microwave, Fridge, Stove. Which was just pushing the Fridge and Stove into place and for the Microwave installing a support bracket, $837. Needless to say we did the total installation ourselves in about 8-9 hours, and saved $4,450. I did get to buy a new drill for the project. The cabinets all arrived when they said, were in Excellent condition. All the parts were there, extra molding. Doors just required slight adjustment after installation. We Couldn't be Happier with the American Woodmark support, service and quality. We would definitely purchase from American Woodmark again.

"Love my New Kitchen"
I really couldn't be happier with my cabinets. I wanted a simple white cabinet with modern style and our Home Depot designer recommended American Woodmark. They look great in our kitchen and I love the cushion close feature. We did need one replacement door, but their customer service had it shipped in a couple of days so we didn't have to delay the project.

"Cabinets repeatedly received damaged from factory"
We ordered cabinets from American Woodmark in the Ashland style with linen paint. The estimated time between ordering and delivery was less than 2 weeks. The first delivery arrived 40% damaged with a combination of factory defects and damage during shipping. These pieces were replaced and the 2nd delivery arrived with the same 40% defect rate. At this point, the delivery team mistakenly took the non-damaged doors with the cabinet frames after they were instructed to leave them. After this second round of damage, a regional account manager stopped by and offered to have the next delivery inspected at the factory and shipped to us in "bomb-proof packaging". The 3rd delivery arrived with a 60% defect rate. "Bomb-proof packaging" consisted of a single piece of bubble wrap around the cabinet bases and nothing protecting the upper and lower corners. The missing doors were found and left on our porch - leaning against an iron railing in the rain. The subsequent inspection of these doors showed significant damage to the product. We canceled our entire order with American Woodmark and will be going with another cabinet maker.
