"Possibly the worst wrong company over"
I have been buying these cabinets for almost 30 years in the last two or three years this company has completely fallen apart it never sends a full order at least to me and my company everything is always back ordered the quality has gone right down the drain I would not spend one dime on these cabinets consider yourself forewarned this is without a doubt the worst run company on the planet in my opinion.

"Came with our house"
We have Merrilat cabinets that came with the house, we thought the fronts were solid oak. When I put citrus stripper (not that powerful) on the sides the really cheap crap paper thin veneer just dissolved. My husband was like, we are not getting new cabinets yet. My plan was to strip off the ugly orange varnish and use something we like better, we didn't want to paint. Sometimes the universe intervenes...today my son was sitting on the floor with me working on a chair, he got up and just bumped the cabinet door (not hard, and the door was not open), the piece with the hinges on it separated from the rest of the door, and you could clearly see only the borders of the cabinets were solid wood (if they even are) and the rest was particle board with the same very thin veneer (I am talking like 2 mils here, when I say thin I mean paper thin). I immediately realized I could paint them (which I never wanted or get new cabinets, there is no way I am going to sand every one of them attempting to never get to the particle board which is next to impossible. I am done and I will never buy these crap quality cabinets (I didn't buy these but people were telling me to keep them, they are nice), no they are not nice, they are the cheapest crap cabinets I have ever seen.

"Waste of Money"
Don't even go with the semi-custom line of Merillat. Wish I had found this forum before I bought. The kitchen company steered me towards this line. They came below quality and they won't even expediate paint ahead of the doors, for my contractor to try to repair. It's been three weeks now!

"Stay Away!"
Worst cabinets ever. I bought some second hand for extra cabinet space and had a chance to really see the workmanship. Walls and bottom of cabinets are thin cheap particle board. The floors of the cabinets are even thinner and bow if any appliance such as a slow cooker or small roasters are stored on the bottom shelf The door glide brackets are plastic and break. One cabinet sagged so bad that the drawers fell off the tracks. The backing is also cheap particle board. These cabinets are not designed for any weight at all. Since the bracket I needed was discontinued, I had to cannibalize one small cabinet to get a bracket to repair the glider. While the website said they had a replacement, I was not able to locate it on their site. The sagging cabinet was fixed by gluing and clamping a 1x4 hardwood board the length of the bottom of the cabinet and make sure it was level. That fixed the sagging, but then I discovered the two top drawers closed unevenly, that is one side was closed flush and the other stuck out about 1/8 of an inch. In fact both drawers were out of alignment. The drawers were fixed by moving the top glider brackets until I had an even closure, The inside back of the cabinets were covered with cheap paper or vinyl with a wood grain pattern that could be torn off by hand. The website stated that the drawer slide brackets for this cabinet were discontinued, however, I was not able to locate the replacement part on their website. Parts should be retained and easy to find for any of their cabinets regardless of their age. And if a part is discontinued, the replacement part should be next to the discontinued one so customers can see it. Granted these were used cabinets, however the materials were cheap too. Egin with and the workmanship was shoddy. I've seen old or used cabinets made with wood or thick particle board that stood up fine. Well made cabinets stand up to the test of time even if they are older. I doubt these would stand up a year! Don't waste your money on these cabinets.

"Do not buy these cabinets"
When they arrived there were gaps on the cabinet doors - my builder spent hours fixing them. 1 year later, many doors/drawers have peeling paint - what a nightmare - going to have to reface 40+ cabinet drawers/doors - which won't be cheap. If you are building - got the extra and put in high quality cabinets.

Less than acceptable material, (flakeboard). Damaged goods - constant waiting for replacement goods. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in 30 years of kitchen design.

"Minor damage and delamination."
Do not buy these cabinets! They are junk. Every single one came with some minor damage and/or delamination. The company won't do anything and has been jerking me around for weeks now. Terrible experience! Do not waste your money.

"Very dissatisfied"
Can you imagine having your kitchen totally tore up for near 3 weeks. We ordered them appx the 15th of December, cabs came in on the 13th of January 2 days late but ok, they were short the main pantry, the center of the kitchen. Cabinets are in minus the pantry, granite tops are in but can't put the kitchen together without the pantry. Numerous calls and numerous excuses, time missed at work with promised deliveries and still not date of delivery and it's the 26th of January. If I had ordered from any other company at least allowance would have been given in the cost for the lost time, wages and damn inconvenience. This is a company that really needs to be reorganized and some now management might help. I'd look for a better company and I doubt I'll hear from them until they drop it off in my driveway and just drive away. Not a great company to do business with.

"Poor poor quality"
Sad to say we did not listen to the reviews posted. Our new Marillat cabinets are terrible. No two cabinets match in color, 5 are cracked, door quiet close does not work, many had scratches, you can see globs of glue everywhere. We are returning the cracked ones but feel like they are very poorly made. I chose an American company but am very disappointed in the extremely poor quality and workmanship. I feel as if we just lost all our remodel money.

"Horrible Product!"
We purchased a modular home which came with Merrilat Classic. We were only in our house for four months before the drawers started breaking and the wall oven cabinet began pulling apart. We bought stock cabinets from Lowes for our rental property that were better quality! I would never recommend this product/company. Very disappointed!

"Cheapest made kitchen and bathroom cabinets"
The cabinets are beautiful from afar; however, the finish on the cabinets leave a lot to be desired. We purchased a new home about 3 years ago and not long after we did, the cabinets started showing wear. If they are barely handled, they will show wear and scratches. I notified the company to no avail - they compensated us by sending us some cover up. Next time I shop for cabinets, I will stay far away from this company - a cabinet expert told me that the cabinets are hastily and cheaply made in China.

"Worst cabinets I've seen."
Worst cabinets I've ever seen. This was the comment of the lumberyard we purchased them from. Out of square, not level, in pieces as they came out of the box, doors that were warped, doors that didn't fit, corner braces that fell off in your hand, drawers that were mounted crooked, finish that didn't match. When we rejected them, Merillat's response was "put a lean on their house". Lucky we were dealing with a reputable lumberyard. They now say they have their problems fixed. They don't!

Very poor craftsmanship, glue everywhere. Some places no glue. Had to fix corners damage. On corners nails sticking out. Doors and drawers not shutting right. Took forever to get. Never again. Just say no to Merillat.

"Serious quality issues"
Installed kitchen in June of 2014, ended up removing entire kitchen due to quality control issues Merillat was having. Rep said this was widespread and he could not give me a date of when we could get the parts to fix the issues. I've used their products in the past and not had any issues. We had the same issue on a small bath remodel at the same time and just waited until the new drawer fronts came in. I'm a bit nervous about using Merillat again since the labor cost me $1200 even though my distributor gave me a full refund on the cabinets.

"Excellent for the price"
I've had Merillat cabinets in my kitchen and 3 baths for 20 years and they still look brand new. When I remodeled my kitchen I added granite countertops and slate backsplash--but no changes to cabinets were needed. Sold home shortly after that for top dollar as everyone loved the "new" kitchen and baths. My kitchen was heavily used by both myself and 2 daughters who cook several meals each day. Now I'm remodeling my new home and installing Merillat in 5 bathrooms, laundry room and wet bar. (The Kitchen has KitchenCraft--which are very nice but more expensive than Merillat.)

"No problems at all with Merillat"
I have used Merillat for over 7 years of all different styles, colors, door sizes, hinges, slides, raised panel, flat in the kitchen, bathroom and general areas. I have never had a problem placing orders, and receiving my products. They generally come packaged very well, and have had very little damage. I can remember once I had a busted cabinet door due to a failed joint. No problem receiving the replacement in what I feel to be ample time (1-2weeks). My cabinet rep is excellent, service is great and I am and will continue to use this product in all future venues.

"My 3rd Merillat Kitchen in 3 years"
I always use Merillat when I try to flip a house or townhouse. They have a broad range of colors & styles for the buyer I am aiming. Merillat used to be delivered to my site in 10 days. This past time around I waited over 4 darn weeks. The reason the dealer gave me is that the plant has been backed up for a while. Finally the cabinets arrived & the boxes, drawers, hinges all were great. I did have some doors with some scratches & dings which is common with all brands I have used in the past. I just call my dealer & tell them which cabinet is scratched or scuffed & they send me out a new door. All in all it's a good cabinet for the price.

"Merillat Classic Cabinets"
We ordered Merillat's Classic Somerton Hill cabinet line with a Maple Chiffon finish and with a Tuscan Glaze. We thought we were purchasing Fine Furniture for our kitchen. Instead, what we received could only be defined by the worst quality control and utter lack of craftsmanship imaginable. Cabinets with rails and styles that were not even. Cabinets held together with glue that was not in the joint seam but rather randomly placed so that cabinets were already coming apart. Door joints that were not properly fitted and showed signs of cracking. Doors with holes on the insides. Scuffed and marred cabinet and door finishes. Items so poorly packaged that damage to them in shipment was a foregone conclusion. Now their customer service has disappeared. Won't respond to emails. When you can reach them on the phone they won't follow through. Utterly and thoroughly disgusted with this company. I cannot stress strongly enough to run not walk away from Merillat Cabinetry.

"Horrible"
I am having the same problems as other posters. They delivered damaged cabinets and are in no hurry to get me the replacements. I have been waiting three weeks (without a working kitchen) and they are telling me it will be two more weeks. I have no confidence in them. Run away from this company as fast as you can.

"Horrible experience/service"
I chose Merillat for a couple reasons- price, good-looking, and readily available. Wrong. My cabinets arrived March 7 and it is May 1 and they're still not complete. Several cabinets and drawers were damaged and had to be re-ordered, and we are on our third refrigerator panel. Service has been terrible. We were told the 3rd panel would be in 3 weeks ago, and each week since there has been a new excuse as to why it has not shipped. I was told 'there's nothing I can do' by my salesman. If I could, I would rip all the cabinets out and start all over. It has ruined the excitement for my new kitchen. Would never recommend Merillat.
