"Self cleaning electric coil free standing range"
I have a 30 inch stove with coil type electric. I am very satisfied with the stove for the most part; cooking evenly, and ease of operation. However, the self cleaning feature is horrible! It is never wise to leave an oven on when you leave, yet I guarantee, you will need a gas mask, should you decide to stay! The fumes are overwhelming! The best solution, is either to never use the oven or make sure everything is covered or live with a dirty oven!

"Blown out oven unit"
The oven unit blew out while attempting to bake pizza. The blow out did not even trigger the electrical supply box to short, which is supposed to happen for safety reasons. I have owned stoves in Alaska, I have never seen a lower baking unit blow up, and burn out before. So scary.

"Cook top Enamel around/under "chrome" burner trim has missed spaces; drawer under oven does not roll in/out"
Purchased this electric range 3/17 but it was not installed until August 9, 2017. When I wiped the dirt/dust off the cook top, I noted that there was POOR white paint coverage around each of the electric burned eyes. This stove is for my household use and 4 days after starting to cook on it, I noted that the drip pans on 2 burners were burnished and would not clean off. I use the medium setting for my cooking on the stove top. I wipe my stove top after each use and noted that there were increasing frequency of lack of white paint covering on the cook top. From the beginning, the storage drawer under the oven would not open and/or close easily +and would lock-up and refuse to allow access. In the 51 plus years of marriage, having moved frequently and resided in multiple sites, this stove seems to be constructed of very thin materials and poorly constructed and have the most problems than any others I have used - especially since it was purchased NEW. I am truly disappointed in this Tappan. And at this time, I would not recommend purchasing a Tappan to any of my friends or enemies.

"Unsafe Oven"
Bought electric stove last week. The first time I used it the burner melted the bottom of my pan, it was on high. Tried it again later, same thing. Even on medium it was still too hot! I took the burner coil off n it was starting to burn under the burner! I've also used oven several times n it smells like something is burning! So I'll never buy another one! Taking it back n getting a better brand!

"Broiling and baking elements"
I purchased 5years ago and last year the baking element went it was covered under warranty. This year no warranty and broiling element caught fire. Not just went out or wouldn't work actually caught fire, good thing I was standing right there. I turned it off and it went out. Scary. Also the plastic is starting to get discolored and melting where the steam vents at the cook top near the left knobs to turn on cook top burners. Cheap plastic. Not happy with purchase. I feel it is cheaply made and does not last for the money paid.

"Scary oven"
My dad got this Tappan gas stove for my mom one year ago. It was works fine but the oven turns on by itself. The first time we couldn't figure out why it was smelling like burnt. We were looking til my mom got near the stove. She felt it hot but everything was off. Til she opened the oven all the plastic tippers she stores there burnt. She had to disconnect it.

"Too Hot for Plastic"
The Tappan stove, about 4 years old, while cooking a large family dinner today, a loud popping sound and a spark from the bulkhead where the pigtail hooks up has melted from using the oven frequently. Very scary, but still functional at the moment. I will replace it as soon as this dinner is done. Very poor design! Low grade plastic and hot temperatures do not mix!

"Burner Exploded"
Purchased electric Tappen oven in 2011. I noticed while I was cooking the burner started turning red hot on medium heat. I was frying chicken and all of a sudden it sounded like bomb went off. It exploded and blew a big hole in my skillet and it caught on fire. I called them and they just said it was out of warranty. But it exploded and caught fire, not just a part bad. Never will I buy another one!
