"You Get What You Pay For"
Most of the reviews here are right. However I knew going in that they were the cheapest cabinets I could buy. Therefor I expected some issues and there were a few. More than I had hoped for. The one thing I wasn't ready for was the different colors of wood grain. It looks pretty crappy. There was no way I was going to take any of them back because it took forever for them to come in. I was tired of living in a tore up house. I don't blame any of it on Home Depot. They sell items that we keep buying. Like I said in the beginning you get what you pay for. I would buy again because of the price but I would get them from the store and not order them. Then I would be able to pick and choose what I wanted.

"Garbage"
Will never buy again. Ordered half online for in store pickup. Every cabinet had issues. They weren't square, scratched very poor quality. Went back to get remainder of base cabinets so we could lay tile floor down but after visiting 2 Home Depot stores still short 2 because the ones the stores had in stock were worse than the ones we already purchased.

"Poor Craftsmanship"
I purchased 10 Hampton Bay kitchen cabinets from Home Depot and one came broken and everyone came with some sort scuff mark on door, and poor finish on corners. I can understand the way the grain of the wood it, but that should of been addressed. I wouldn't even have given them one star. My fault for not finding this website before I ordered these cabinets. Now I will have to fight Home Depot. I will never buy Hampton Bay cabinets, ever again!

Learn from our mistakes. Check every cabinet for defects. Three out of the five cabinets we purchased had defects. Don't buy these cabinets.

"Better than I was expecting"
After reading many reviews, it became obvious that much of the problem people were having with these cabinets were related to initial quality. I spent a lot of time picking over cabinets in the store, making sure finishes were uniform and no obvious construction issues existed. Meticulous attention was paid to balancing and securing the cabinets to each other and to walls. Proper selection and installation process resulted in better-than-expected quality of appearance and function. None of my other home improvement projects have resulted in a "bigger bang for the buck". If you know what you're doing and have reasonable expectations, I suspect they'll be exceeded. I'm glad I took a chance and went this route.

"Totally Substandard"
I am a part-time rehab or in remodeler. This is the first time I've used this product from Home Depot. We elected to install and spray paint over the product to achieve the finish we wanted. Unfortunately their cabinet drawer glides were all in operative and scratchy. That necessitated me replacing the entire set of drawer glides. Once the paint was on we observed all the joints on the doors splitting open. Before we got the chance to do much else all the cabinet drawer panels on the front of the cabinet drawer fell off because they're not bolted on their stapled on which three-quarter inch staples most of the drawer hinges and door hinges cannot be adjusted sufficiently to lineup the cabinet doors. This product is totally substandard and should be thrown away once installed I am awaiting recourse from Home Depot the Hampton Bay cabinet Rep. I have not heard what the results are but I am looking at a lawsuit at this time. One thing is for sure it looks like I'm going to eat over $3600 worth of cabinets and $2000 worth of painting on this installation. Oh and I'd like to add that all the other comments about the expected delivery times are correct they exceeded their delivery time by 2 to 3 weeks which pushed my project back considerably. I would strongly suggest that no one ever buy this product or anything remotely like it.

"Hampton Bay don't do it!"
I'm so disappointed. These cabinets are so cheaply assembled. When we got our cabinets we had one (of course the one to hold the dishes) was not square. Did I mention I waited 4 weeks and on 5th week I had to call Home Depot to find out they were in for days. We sent the damaged cabinet back and waited another 6 weeks to get the new one because Home Depot did not put on reorder that it was a damaged replacement order so Hampton Bay just didn't make it. Their reason is this company only makes orders of 5 or more cabinets. So they just kicked our reorder out and said nothing to no one. Now we are reordering again and finally Its in 3 weeks later. Omg I think they sent me the same cabinet I turned back in not square. So sent it back now I'm on my third cabinet I've been without my kitchen done for 4 months by this time. My 3rd cabinet is damaged. The little plastic tabs inside door have been pushed through the frame. It is even more out of whack then the first two. I give up. I kept the cabinet. Just can't take it anymore and feel like I being punished for turning in a faulty product and asking for a replacement. I payed so much for these cabinets. I'm really upset and disappointed.

"Very pleased for the price"
I purchased the hickory cabinets for a home I remodeled about 10 years ago and they are still functional and attractive. I recently bought another home that needed a new kitchen. Once again I went with the Hampton Bay Hickory and I am very pleased with the result. However, I do not have small children and I would not recommend these for a household of active curtain climbers.

"Done with Home Depot!"
I wish I had found this site earlier. My cabinets came in with 2 of 13 damaged. I reordered them... they got "lost". Not notified until the day they should have arrived. Reordered again... "lost" ones show up with 1 damaged. Reordered it... order cancelled-back ordered! Argh! Re-ordered just the one... Still Waiting!

"Extremely Unhappy"
The cabinet doors are made out of cardboard, unable to paint doors. In addition, we have been unable to find replacement doors. We feel that Home Depot and Hampton Bay have taken our money.

"Kitchen cabinets"
Absolutely junk, my husband has returned 7 cabinets to home depot. They are all cracked or dented or the doors arent even level. Home Depot takes the returns and puts them right back on the floor. Do not buy this brand or shop with home depot. We are disgusted

"Very Poor Excuse"
Waited three weeks for the order to come in to the Home Depot Store. Went to pick them up and they were well wrapped in stretch wrap. Had to undo wrap to get them into our truck when we noticed that both cabinets had a very bad dent in the doors. Looked at second pallet when we noticed the long package holding the Molding looked like it had hit a door. After removing the cardboard we saw that every piece of Molding was broken. You mean to tell me that no one own up to the fact that this could have damaged the product? It took over two hours for them to return the product on their computers. We left after almost three hours waiting and they had to email the reorder to us. So why does Home Depot have a contract with Hampton Bay to accept all damaged product from the factory. Product looks great but the process sucks.

"Beyond Very Unsatisfied"
If I had not started the white wash on the unfinished oak kitchen cabinets I would have chopped them up and sent them back to you in pieces. Now I have to live with them for a while. My husband is a cabinet builder but because of the time factor we decided to get these. All I've heard is cursing and hair pulling while "trying" to correct many factory mistakes and cheap material. Trips galore for exchanges at 90 miles a trip. The oak doesn't even take white wash properly because of fills or odd grain pieces that were used in a hurry when they were built. I could go on and on but will end on this note: Guaranteed the word will spread.

"Do Not Buy"
We bought 2 cabinets for our laundry room and are very disappointed in the quality. At $130 per cabinet, I don't think the price is as cheap as the quality of these cabinets. Probably worth $50. Staples were falling out and pushing through. Lucky to have a husband who can fix things! Would never buy these cabinets for a kitchen or anywhere they would get a lot of abuse - they would not last. Home Depot needs to find a better supplier!

"Terrible Cabinets"
As a cabinet installer I find these cabinets to be of poor quality. 6 of the 12 cabinets came damaged due to the lack of quality control from the factory and poor packaging. I was told the Home Depot has a contract with Hampton Bay that Home Depot eats the cost of the damaged ones. So no wonder Hampton Bay does not care (This is the worst business practice I've ever heard of). So in the meantime a home owner goes without a kitchen for weeks or months. I wonder if the CEO's at Home Depot or Hampton Bay would go without a kitchen for months? I think their wives would be very very unhappy. Do not buy these cabinets, you will be sorry!

"Shame on Home Depot for supporting this company"
I really cannot add to the comments submitted by the other reviewers. I have had all the issues listed. Basically this is a quality control issue and that should be the easiest problem to fix. Home Depot has probably squeezed this company to the breaking point and we the customers are left to suffer the consequences. Buyer Beware.

"Don't Do It"
I understand buying a low end cabinet means lower quality, but it shouldn't mean having to repair or work around poor workmanship. The time, energy, frustration, and necessary tools to fix the problems made the low end cabinets more expensive than the higher grade cabinet in the long run. The list of damages to the cabinets and examples of poor workmanship is longer than this review box. I would never use Hampton Bay again.

"Shaker Satin White - cheap and disappointing"
I wish I had had more time to do my research on these cabinets. They are vinyl wrapped particle board. They scratch and chip easily and cannot be "touched up" properly due to them not being painted but wrapped in a cheap vinyl. I would never have ordered these had I known this and would never recommend these cabinets. Spend more money to get better quality. I purchased these through Home Depot and it took twice as long to get them as estimated. Very disappointing!

"Very Disappointed"
It's sad when you save the money to do your kitchen and finally your ready, and then you order cabinets, excited and wait for the call that your special order has arrived. Oh my gosh how sad, and how disappointing, ordered 13 cabinets and one was really good enough not to have to take back. Same on Home Depot for selling them and shame on the inspectors at the factory for letting them pass. Drawers were not attached all the way, missing staples, or way too many staples, lots of filler and so on. Needless to say we are still waiting for the replacement cabinets to be delivered. It has been two months now. Can't order a countertop until all cabinets are in and ready for measurements. 20 years ago we bought Hampton Bay cabinets and they were still in great shape, just redoing and updating the same kitchen, so we would thought they would have been the same quality-NOT. Do not buy Hampton Bay cabinets-you will be extremely sorry. We are that's for sure.
