"Money poorly spent"
The cabinets I received, didn't come close to the quality of the cabinets that were on display at the showroom. Things I really disliked: The upper cabinets with solid wood doors had unstained bottoms and the cabinets with open or glass front doors had bottoms stained to match the cabinet finish. This resulted in the underside of my cabinets have two different finishes, randomly jumping from dark to light. Quality control at the factory is terrible. I had to send back two drawers which had broken tabs but, even more unfortunate are all of the staples that missed passing into one of the cabinet bodies which sadly, I didn't notice until everything had already been installed. Also the shelf adjustments are every 3 inches, limiting adjustability of spacing between shelves. I spent a lot of money on a very disappointing kitchen. I don't normally write reviews but, I'm so unhappy with these cabinets I want to help whoever I can from making the same mistake I did.

I'm surprised to read all the bad reviews. I bought a new condo 15 years ago and kitchen and bath cabinets are Merilat. I'm very happy with them and they have stood up well.

"Quality of Elite Series Merillat Cabinets"
Purchased cabinets to replace entire kitchen. Cabinets delivered with many quality defects such as surface scratches, corners of cabinet doors crushed, screws through face of drawer, wood grain on some cabinets running vertical when it should be horizontal. Contacted Merillat and it took 4 weeks to get replacement components and then these still had same type of defects. I then spoke with Merillat Sales person to discuss my concerns and ask that the replacement components be subjected to 200% inspection to ensure no quality issues with Merillat's 3rd attempt to rectify these issues. Waited 6 weeks for 2nd replacement components and they still have defects such as surface scratches...etc. Keep in mind I paid for the Elite Series of cabinets and feel like I'm getting anything but. I would not recommend nor will I ever purchase cabinets from Merillat. Last recommendation I have for Merillat is to replace their current Quality Manager immediately.

"Gone downhill"
I'm a contractor and have been installing Merilatt cabinets for decades. Up until a few years ago the quality was improving. As of the last few years the attention to quality control has degraded dramatically. Damaged cabinets, wrong cabinets, warped doors and frame fronts. It makes alot of work for me to fix the flaws. Now with covid as an excuse, it's even worse. I'll be looking into a different line after this last job. It's a shame.

"Never Again"
Purchased 2 cabinets to match existing cabinets in our home. One cabinet was missing hardware needed to install roll our drawers ordered with the cabinets. Replacement hardware was ordered two weeks ago and when Merrilat was contacted to get status of hardware shipment, they stated it was scheduled to ship in another two or three weeks. For Hardware. Unfortunately the mounting hardware for these drawers is pretty specific to the drawers/cabinets or I would order elsewhere. The fact that there was missing hardware to begin with says a lot about quality control at Merrilat but to have to wait 4-5 weeks for the missing hardware is unacceptable. I will never order from them again.

"Terrible product, terrible service"
Do not buy Merillat! The finish fails and the company does not stand by their warranty. Our cabinets have a 25 year warranty, but it is useless. You have been warned. Look elsewhere.

"Buyer Be Ware!"
I purchased Merillat Mastetpiece Cabinets in a shaker style, white. The kitchen is three different shades of white. Bright white, creamy white and a greyish greenish white. I'm so disgusted and disappointed. I had the regional sales person come out to my home and he gave me a song and dance about the lighting in my kitchen. Useless. Bad quality and bad customer service. If I can save someone from the heartache I feel over this I will feel better.

"29 Years of Great Cabinets"
Our hunting lodge burned down opening morning of deer season in 1990. The architect out of Chicago on the rebuild wanted custom made cabinets but I showed my father-in-law what was available through a local building supply company and he selected white faced red oak trimmed Merrilat cabinets. On numerous occasions he mentioned that was the best decision in all of the many decisions that had to be made in the year long consturction period. They are still great looking cabinets that have held up to heavy use through the years.

"Worst Experience Ever!"
130 days with no kitchen! Items sent damaged- the cardboard boxes were in better condition then the items inside! White cabinets with black markings all over them and wrong items sent. Damaged items reordered 4 times and still coming in damaged. Overpriced garbage. Reps from company are rude and get defensive when you question quality control procedures. Save yourself headaches and money. Stay away from Merillat!

"Merillat doesn’t care if your cabinets match"
I ordered Merillat cabinets for my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. They were installed in my new house and when I first saw them, I asked the builder why are the lowere cabinets the correct color and the doors and drawer fronts pink? Thus started my quest to get it corrected. Company sent a person out to look. She decided there was no difference, so too bad. Merillat is only interested in happy customers until cabinets are delivered. Then they don't care. They did offer to sell me new doors and fronts so "maybe the next set will match"...what a deal...buy more from them to fix their problem. Never buy Merillat cabinets! Never.

"Stay away from Merillat and Masco"
Within the first year, my painted cabinets were cracking and peeling on several doors and drawers. They replaced the problem doors and drawers but said they weren’t fixing anymore if more problems arose. Same doors and drawers that were already replaced started peeling again after 3 years. To get out of their warranty they will blame you by calling it neglect and water damage. It was a bad paint job from the beginning. Ended up taking them to court and won. Didn't get the full judgement enough though to fix the problem. Nothing but a big headache

"Poor Quality, Poor Customer Care"
I ordered Merillat cabinets for my kitchen remodel on February 23, 2018. They didn't arrive until the first week of April. Out of the shipping carton, one wall cabinet had a nail popping through the side with doors so mismatched that a child would have noticed it. Another had a gouge out of the side and another had veneer damage on the top and bottom. The face of one of the drawers had several scratches in the veneer and the face of the sink front had something protruding from it. Also, a 3" spacer was manufactured backwards from what was ordered. Replacements for all of these were ordered on April 13, 2018. They arrived on May 1, 2018. We unpacked the first four of the five boxes... a "new" cabinet door was busted in two places, the veneer on another was damaged on the top and bottom, the 3" spacer piece was hanging off it is structure and the drawer face they sent to replace the one with scratches is not from the same wood or finish. We didn't bother to open the fifth box. I just spoke with the Merillat representative, which was a big waste of time. First, he blamed the problems on the shippers just not caring about the product, then he tried to tell me these were just cosmetic problems. Then, he had the audacity to tell me that this wasn't really delaying my kitchen. He refused to pass me to a supervisor after admitting to me that he had no authority. And, there is so much more that was wrong with this conversation. Suffice to say, I am not paying for these cabinets and looking for another manufacturer. Merillat used to be a highly regarded, high quality family owned company in Adrian, Michigan but since selling out to MASCO, they just don't seem to care. I had Merillat cabinets for 20 years and I loved them. But no more Merillat for me.

"Not environmentally friendly"
For those conscience consumers who care about the environment, Merillat is not your brand. If any damage happens to any part of the wood (no matter how small) Merillat will not sell replacement parts. Instead they tell you to dispose of the drawer, cabinet, etc and to purchase a new one. I had the side of a wood drawer frame separate from the from the front side of the frame. I was told to purchase an entirely new drawer. Even though they have a warehouse of these parts, they don't sell them. When I pointed out that was not a sustainable business model for the environment, throwing away an entirely good drawer with all good parts but one, I was told to make it into mulch....you can't mulch treated and painted wood. In any event, this company has alot of waste and little concern about environmental sustainability. The phone call with the representative was disheartening. I was told, "well if you care about the environment why did you buy wood, why didn't you buy plastic?" Ack! Like plastic is a good choice! And even if I did, they'd be telling me to throw out the plastic drawer and buy a new one! This company doesn't have a clue or a care about the globe. So the cabinets may look nice but they are part of the problem and not solution. With so may businesses that care about the planet and eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable approach to their business models to choose from, I'd suggest searching elsewhere than Merillat who is only concerned about sustaining their profits.

"Finish has not worn well"
Natural cherry have beautiful finish showing multiple grains/heartwood. Unfortunately, the finish has not worn well and is peeling in several places. We have used mild cleaners and it has not helped. Why a company does not put a finish to last is beyond my comprehension. Take the xtra step to insure longevity.

"Terrible Delivery and Service"
I suggest you avoid this company at all costs if you are in the market for new kitchen cabinets. We paid over $17K for cabinets - most of which were delivered on Dec 12. 6 boxes consisting of 2 cabinets plus multiple trim pieces were lost in transit. Our kitchen retailer could not get a a straight answer out of Merillat for weeks. I tried calling customer service. After numerous attempts and over 15 minutes on hold, I spoke to a woman who told me I had the wrong Merillat customer service group - but she would insure that someone called me back. Never happened. Before the holidays we were told by our retailer that Merillat could not locate the boxes and new cabinets were being made and would be delivered the first week of January. Today he found out it will now be the 12th of January. This company is terrible to deal with and provides little truthful information to its customers. We are tired of their incompetence! We are now without a kitchen for an entire additional month.

"Inherited them when we bought the house"
They look great from the front, doors are solid wood. Finish isn't great, greasy corner handprints and when I try to clean it the finish wears through. House was only 10 years old when we moved in, most of the plastic brackets for sliding shelves were broken and had to be removed because the particle board wouldn't support new screws. Bottoms bowed in two cabinets cheesy paper laminate coming off sides of upper cabinets, and drawers had to be fixed multiple times. Really happy to replace them. Would never recommend this brand

"Poor quality with very expensive parts"
I bought a house with Merillat cabinets installed a couple years ago. The drawer sockets are a poor design and are failing at the rate of a set every month or so. While other manufacturers sell their sockets for about $5 a set Merillat forces you to go through their dealers and buy a $30 set of replacement tracks to fix the situation. Poor engineering, lousy support, and greedy "dealers" leave me unable to recommend Merillat cabinetry.

"Laminate has come off of 2 doors"
Our white laminate Merillat cabinets are only 5 years old. In that time the laminate has come off of 2 doors. On One the company said it was because of heat from stove therefore the warranty would not cover a replacement. Why would a company sell these kitchen cabinets if they do not tolerate heat from the stove? The second cabinet is a lower door not close to any heat source. I hope the company will stand by the product and replace the door.
